About

This Website is an interactive site dedicated to the unfolding events surrounding the construction and subsequent launching and beyond, of the scow-schooner, Seeker, a 70 foot (on deck, 90′ overall) tall ship, made entirely of American old growth native wood from plans obtained from the Smithsonian.

The Seeker was conceived out of love for the sea by Ted Box and his son, Jake. They thought about what they wanted to do with the boat, and the design came out of that. Jake’s brother Garrett quickly fell in love with the project, and, after securing a place to build it from Ernie Boch Jr., on the Tisbury waterfront, the work began in August of 2011. Since then the island of Martha’s Vineyard has adopted the project, and a great volunteer effort has commenced. From the beginning, kid’s have been a focus. That will continue as the scow enters it’s active career. Read the various articles as well as blogs and keep up with the story, or add to it. This is an open project, and anyone can participate, through donations of time or money, or programming of partnerships. Basically, if you can see how you fit. We’ll make room.
